National Archives of Qatar, affiliated with the Amiri Diwan, in Msheireb was inaugurated on Tuesday

The National Archives of Qatar, affiliated to the Amiri Diwan in Msheireb, was opened Tuesday morning by the Amir, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The Amir was given a tour of the building and given a briefing on the National Archives of Qatar's resources, which are devoted to keeping an eye on the State of Qatar's past, organising the collection, conserving, and managing archives, as well as organising the collection itself.

Several ministries and high-ranking officials of Their Excellencies were present for the inauguration.

The Amiri Decision No. (29) of 2023 provided the framework for the reorganisation of the National Archives of Qatar, which is connected to the Amiri Diwan. In carrying with the directives of Law No. (7) of 2023 on documents and archives, it seeks to promote intellectual activity, keep an eye on the history of the State of Qatar, and plan, coordinate, and oversee the acquisition and conservation of documents and archives.

In addition, it seeks to promote the use of information, records, and documents by establishing guidelines and rules that govern the nation's management of public, private, historical, and national materials.

Identifying all historical documents held by ministries, other government agencies, or individuals, as well as other documents and archives located overseas, is the responsibility of the National Archives of Qatar. It also identifies the procedures by which the Archive can acquire, transfer, or obtain copies of these documents and archives.
