NewsThe "rasekh" initiative was launched on Tuesday by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), in cooperation and coordination with Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF). This is a new online educational platform affiliated with Qatar Foundation which will be available to all schools across the country.
The event, held at the Ministry of Education's permanent headquarters, was attended by the Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, and senior officials from both sides.
The initiative "rasekh" seeks to provide a high-quality educational experience guided by a vision of a local nature by allowing schools to integrate curricula, local knowledge and innovations, values, heritage, and national identity, as well as identify global sustainability challenges related to the local context, while also promoting the Arabic language and highlighting national values and identity.
The initiative also aims to build bridges between all knowledge societies inside and outside Qatar Foundation, while ensuring students' access to knowledge in various fields, encouraging students' work that reflects their values, morals, and national identity, and enabling them to present their work locally and globally and communicate in their mother tongue with pride.
Maha Al-Ruwaili, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said: "The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has always been committed to providing students with high-quality learning opportunities and achieving high quality learning outcomes, in addition to enabling the educational system's outputs to respond successfully to the opportunities and challenges that are posed by the twenty-first century."
She added that the achievement of Qatar's national vision requires individuals who possess more than knowledge; individuals who are capable of understanding knowledge as well as applying and creatively using it to solve problems.
Al-Ruwaili said that it was therefore necessary to work on a more effective investment of the available resources to support teaching and learning and to activate meaningful partnerships with state institutions.
"The platform "rasekh" will contribute to providing educational materials that connect students with today's world and their practical reality by providing the latest, up-to-date, and useful content in Arabic and English, as well as detailed curriculum links that are linked to the sustainable development goals," she said.
Al-Ruwaili added that the platform achieves equality, inclusiveness, quality, and unique opportunities to raise the level of education in Qatari society.
"It also serves as a resource for students in public and private schools to refer to and benefit from the offered curricula, in accordance with a codified mechanism that ensures equal access to knowledge for all students, to provide a clear educational trend in line with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's goals," she noted.
In her presentation at the event, Sheikha Nouf bint Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships in Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation and keynote speaker at the launch event, said: "rasekh is a comprehensive platform that connects global context to local knowledge, innovation, and language. Its significance lies in building bridges of cooperation between different bodies and developing multidisciplinary projects to integrate knowledge between various bodies and multiple knowledge societies inside and outside Qatar."
"Through rasekh, we seek to help teachers and learners create new connections between all kinds of knowledge, facts, topics, and global and local issues," she added.
Sheikha Nouf said that the cooperation between pre-university education and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is permanent and continuous.
"The bonds of cooperation have been extended and established since the establishment of pre-university education, and "rasekh" is not our first initiative, but was preceded by several initiatives and projects that the Ministry was familiar with, and was a partner in some of them," she added.
