New travel scheme fee by UK; permitting Qatari and GCC nationals to visit UK multiple times in a 2-year period
08 Jun 2023
NewsSoon, citizens of Jordan and the GCC countries will only have to pay £10 (QR 38.97) to register for an Electronic Travel Authorization programme (ETA), which will allow them to travel to the UK several times over the course of two years.
In contrast, Jordanians pay £100 for a visit visa, while Gulf citizens now pay £30 for each visit to the UK via the Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) programme.
For people passing through the UK and entering or exiting without a visa for a short time or who do not already have a valid UK visa, an ETA is a digital authorization to travel. The programme is scheduled to begin for Qatari nationals in October 2023, followed by the remainder of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan in February 2024, and then a global rollout in 2024.
A mobile phone app will be used for the whole application procedure for an ETA, making it quick and easy to complete. In order to apply, people must submit biographical and biometric information, including a digital photo and responses to a series of questions about their suitability.
