News initiative to lessen the working hours for Qatari female employees in government sector

Qatar has declared plans to reduce working hours for Qatari female employees in the government sector who have school-going children. The pilot programme is set to launch during the next midterm break of the current school year. The statement states that female employees with children in school would conclude their work hours at 12 noon, and it is said that this is a trial basis.

The shorter workdays will go into effect on December 24, 2023, and last through January 4, 2024. The success of this endeavour will thereafter be assessed by the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau. 

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, along with the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, jointly introduced this new initiative on social media.
