Qatar Museums said that as part of its continuous effort to support Qatar's flourishing cultural environment, it has chosen the installation 'Plantoir, Blue' to be shown at Expo 2023 Doha, which is taking place at Al Bidda Park. In a statement, Qatar Museums stated that it chose 'Plantoir, Blue' for the International Horticultural Expo as an illustration of the amazing array of regional and global artists whose work is shown in public areas around Qatar.
The statement also stated that American Pop Art master Claes Oldenburg created the art installation in 2001 using aluminium, fiber-reinforced plastic, and steel. Plantoir, which is more than 23 feet tall and weighs about 2,300 pounds, is a pointed hand tool used in France to create holes in the ground for seeds or young plants.Swedish-born American sculptor Claes Oldenburg (January 28, 1929 – July 18, 2022) is most renowned for his large-scale copies of commonplace things he created for public art installations.
