The electronic food safety system "Watheq" was inaugurated today by the Minister of Public Health, Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari.
The electronic system is one of the most important national projects in the Qatar Public Health Strategy, "to develop an integrated risk-based inspection service, both imported and locally produced, in accordance with relevant international standards such as ISO/IEC 17020:2012.
The electronic system is a food control process based on standard operating procedures subject to international accreditation regulations (ISO 17020), through three electronic linked systems: the control system of imported and exported food, the food control system of the local market, and the electronic management of food analysis laboratories.
Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari affirmed that MoPH adopts the most effective and integrated electronic systems, aiming the provision high-quality services to enhance the health and well-being of the community.
The electronic food safety system increases the efficiency of the food safety department in controlling food throughout the entire food chain, as this system ensures accuracy and speed of food control and food tracking, saving time to get to the laboratory. Reduces risks associated with fruit and food. All this enables effective implementation of food safety requirements and Qatari regulations.
