Qatar achieves an impressive leap in the United Nations E-Government Development Index for 2024

NewsOf 193 countries, the State of Qatar jumped from 78th to 53rd rank in the UN E-Government Development Index (EGDI) for 2024, demonstrating an exceptional leap. The efficiency of government e-services in improving people's lives and enterprises, as well as the general performance and advancement of e-governments globally, are evaluated in this biennial index published by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
With a 25-position gain in the progress category and a 37-spot gain in the Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII), Qatar was rated fifth in the world in the 2024 Index report.
Qatar moved up 27 spots to rank 58th in the Online Services Index (OSI), indicating significant development. Qatar has also improved by 15 places this year to take 90th place in the Human Capital Index (HCI).
In an attempt to improve Qatar's ranking in the UN E-Government Development Index, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has launched a bold program in association with civil servants. An extensive assessment of Qatar's standing in the UN index was carried out as part of this, and the results pointed to a number of areas that needed improvement.
The United Nations released the EGDI report on Tuesday, which assesses the state of e-government development and advancement in 193 nations. Its foundation is the arithmetic mean of three sub-indices: the Human Capital Index (HCI), the Online Services Index (OSI), and the Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII).
