Aer Lingus (EI) and Qatar Airways announced a new codeshare agreement on March 12. Customers will have easier access to more locations in the UK and Ireland with this codeshare, which will also help travellers from other countries, including Africa, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and New Zealand.
In a move that would further enhance its continuing relationship growth with International Airlines Group (IAG), Qatar Airways will add its codeshare on flights operated by Aer Lingus (EI), the national carrier of Ireland, and Aer Lingus Regional. When agreement is put into effect, codesharing between Qatar Airways and all IAG carriers—that is, British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, and Aer Lingus—will strengthen the airline's position in the European market.
Connections between Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus (EI) flights via Dublin, London, and Manchester will be possible thanks to this new codeshare. Through Doha's hub at Hamad International Airport, customers will be able to fly between Irish and UK locations, such as Aberdeen, Belfast, Cork, and Glasgow, as well as Qatar Airways' vast worldwide network.
This comes after Qatar Airways, British Airways, and Iberia recently expanded their strategic alliance, which provides more global connections between more countries than any other airline joint venture.
