Qatar Airways becomes the Official Airline Partner of United for Wildlife, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to wildlife conservation

NewsQatar Airways declared its dedication to serving as the Official Airline Partner of United for Wildlife (UfW), an organisation established in 2014 by Prince William and The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales that aims to combat the illegal wildlife trade and safeguard endangered species. Qatar Airways' steadfast dedication to animal protection is demonstrated by this relationship. In order to further the efforts of the United for Wildlife Regional Chapters and combat the illicit wildlife trade, Qatar Airways and United for Wildlife will run campaigns together.
In 2020, Qatar Airways Cargo initiated its corporate sustainability programme, WeQare chapter: Rewild the Planet. As part of the programme, Qatar Airways Cargo supports the maintenance of ecological balance by giving charities that help reintroduce wild animals to their native habitat complimentary transportation services. A noteworthy achievement of this endeavour was the effective transfer of seven lions from Ukraine in 2021. This action showed how committed Qatar Airways is to helping NGOs and conservation groups in their crucial mission to rewild the world.
The only airline with the formal certification to combat illicit wildlife trafficking in flight is Qatar Airways. An airline's policies, employee training, and reporting systems that aid in the more effective identification of illicit wildlife goods are attested to by the certification. Regarding the transportation of illicit wildlife and goods, Qatar Airways Group has a zero-tolerance policy in place. Employees are required to complete training on illegal wildlife trade awareness. In addition to raising awareness of human trafficking, this training gives staff members the tools they need to recognise it when they see it happening and know how to deal with it.
The airline is encouraging other organisations and individuals to join them in their commitment to preserve the planet's priceless biodiversity by participating in the United for Wildlife Global Summit in Singapore, which is in line with its sustainability objectives and obligations.
