Qatar Airways’ Integrated Operations Center is set to introduce forecasting and disruption management tools this year

This year, Qatar Airways' Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) will launch forecasting and disruption management capabilities built through in-house data science programmes. This change is part of the airline's continual effort to improve operational efficiency and schedule consistency. Significant progress was made in the previous year with the implementation of the latest standard flight planning software and the integration of new modules into their in-house developed Total Operations System (TOPS) operating system, according to the Qatar Airways Group's annual report for fiscal year 2022/2023.

The IOC is critical to guaranteeing the safety and security of all Qatar Airways flights and preserving schedule integrity. The airline hopes to improve its ability to address anticipated problems and make proactive decisions by introducing forecasting and disruption management technologies. Other operational enhancements mentioned in the study included the distribution of web-based real-time operational dashboards.

These dashboards provide extensive analysis and reporting capabilities, offering vital insights to decision-makers across the Qatar Airways Group. Customised reports with critical indicators and user-defined perspectives are readily available to aid in operational and strategic decision-making processes.

According to the research, Qatar Airways saw a strong growth trajectory in 2022/2023 as worldwide travel restrictions associated to the COVID-19 pandemic were progressively relaxed. Many nations reverted to pre-pandemic conditions, allowing the airline to increase operations. Qatar Airways has opened three new destinations and successfully relaunched seven others, expanding its global network to more than 160 destinations. The IOC is dedicated to developing its intellectual capital by investing in its Flight Operations team, which is in charge of employee training and development.
