NewsThe inaugural women's basketball league, which is set to start in November at Al Ittihad Hall in Al Gharafa, has been formally announced by the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF). On the same day, the girls' league will also begin play. During the competitions, which will take place from November 6, 2023 to February 15, 2024, a sizeable amount of QR140,000 as well as significant monetary prizes will be up for grabs.
Yesterday, QBF President Mohammed Saad Al Mughaiseeb, QBF Secretary-General Saadoun Al Kuwari, Director of the Women's Basketball National Team Ms. Amal Al Kaldi, Member of the Women's Committee Aya Mohammed, and QBF Head of Media Committee Khaled Al Qahtani attended a press conference to reveal this exciting news.
Six teams—Al Gharafa, Al Arabi, Ho0ps Al Shamal, Black Ravens, Pro Sport, and Al Multaqa—will compete in the league's inaugural season. The league tournaments including the aforementioned teams will take place in three phases within a single group. Amna Bint Wahab School, Pro Sport, Fame Sports Academy, Hoops North, Al Multaqa, the Recreation Centre, and the Sports Laboratory are the seven teams competing in the girls' division.
