“Qatar CSR Summit” has been launched under the patronage of Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, from May 16 to 18 in the Sports and Events Complex at the university, as announced by the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University.
The announcement was made in a press conference held on Feb 12. Dr. Omar Al Ansari, Qatar University Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Saif Ali Al Hajri, CEO of Qatar CSR National Program and President of Mubadara for Social Impact; Prof. Rana Sobh, Dean of the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University, and Haidar Mshaimesh, General Manager of IFP Qatar attended the press conference.
Dr. Omar Ansari said: “In recognition of its responsibilities, Qatar University has been keen for the past ten years to host and support the very first ever social responsibility focused initiative, Qatar CSR National Program, with the aim of raising the awareness of its students and developing their capabilities in different social responsibility aspects.”
He said Qatar University aims to increase focus on the literature of social responsibility in its curricula and activities, which have been growing steadily and constructively, recognising its role in preparing students in the pre-graduation stage so that they are fully aware of the importance of applying these concepts in their later stages of work, and understand the important role of CSR in strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors and the academic sector.
He said that hosting this event at Qatar University reflects the belief of national institutions in Qatar that social responsibility has become a powerful and unparalleled force to serve the goals set forth in the Qatar National Vision 2030.
