A new collaboration between the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the Qatar Foundation (QF), and the FIVB Volleyball Foundation seeks to advance volleyball in Qatar by helping athletes, offering sporting leadership, and encouraging the growth of the sport at all levels.
Launched in September 2024 as part of QF's FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 legacy, volleyball is the second elite sport to be promoted through QF's Creating Pathways Program. This program, which emphasizes the value of exercise, nutrition, and health, aims to promote physical activity and overall wellbeing.
The Qatar Foundation will serve as the information base for volleyball instruction and training offered by the Volleyball Foundation and FIVB. In order to boost volleyball participation, school initiatives run by QF, FIVB, and the Volleyball Foundation will focus on young girls in the U10 and U14 age groups.
In addition, the Volleyball Foundation and the FIVB will organize a "Train the Trainer" program for QF that will target the physical education departments of QF colleges and universities.
The partnership was revealed alongside the news that the Volleyball Foundation's board has welcomed H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, the CEO and vice chair of the Qatar Foundation. The Volleyball Foundation leverages volleyball's global appeal and influence to improve communities all over the world through worthwhile initiatives.
