NewsThe Qatar Freight Master Plan (QFMP), which seeks to modernise the infrastructure to advance ground freight within an integrated transportation system that promotes this sector to the highest international standards and practices, was finalised, the Ministry of Transport stated on Sunday.
In addition, the system intends to reinforce the growing economic production cycle, meet national requirements for achieving sustainable development, and carry out the Qatar National Vision 2030. It also aims to improve the efficiency and security of the ground freight sector and cope with the most advanced sustainability and innovation standards to support the competitive capability of the State of Qatar in drawing trade lanes and supply chain movement.
The QFMP includes rules, guidelines, and standards that support the ground freight system's future as well as related operations including shipping methods and work schedules. In order to address this, the QFMP proposes numerous schemes and projects through 2050, including those that aim to develop the networks, facilities, and modes of freight ground shipping as well as governance laws and frameworks for the shipping and hazardous cargo industries. This is in addition to the QFMP's inclusion of several national policies that support the land freight sector.
