NewsQatar has announced plans to build a cutting-edge comprehensive cancer clinic to improve cancer care. With amazing advances in cancer treatment over the last decade, this programme aims to galvanise the nation's commitment to providing top-tier medical services to all. The new ultra-specialized comprehensive cancer facility will treat citizens, residents, and patients from other countries who seek to get cancer treatment in Qatar. The Qatar Cancer Plan 2023-2026's chapter on 'Quality Treatment and Ongoing Care' has information about the new centre.
"Centralising care into a new comprehensive cancer centre will raise the profile of and confidence in, cancer services in the country, thus having a direct impact on patient care, outcomes, and expenditure across the country," writes Dr Mohamed Salem Al Hassan, Medical Director of Hamad Medical Corporation's National Centre for Cancer Care and Research and Chairman of corporate cancer services.
In accordance with the Qatar Cancer Plan 2023-2026 The new cancer centre has been designed with great care and deliberation; HMC has employed world-class architects and engineers on a worldwide scale, fostering a tight cooperation with HMC physicians in building the facility. The goal was to design a cutting-edge tower that anticipates future needs from planned population expansion and can meet the estimated increase in yearly cancer diagnoses.
To obtain the greatest clinical outcomes, the new comprehensive cancer facility will employ cutting-edge cancer treatment technologies such as proton beam therapy. Patients, their careers, and their families will all benefit from the new comprehensive cancer center's facilities. It will also integrate research translation operations alongside world-class clinical care, ensuring that patients in Qatar receive treatment on par with or better than anywhere else in the world.
The Qatar Cancer Plan 2023-2026 also emphasises the need to build on the incredible progress made in cancer care over the last decade and maintain momentum to ensure that everyone in Qatar has access to world-class care; a continued focus on expanding capacity and capability to offer services is required. It states that in order to guarantee that resources are properly used, screening programmes must find instances early and correctly.
