The Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced on Wednesday that Luis Garcia, a former Espanyol coach, has been named the next head coach of Qatar.
After coaching Spanish teams Damm, Espanyol, and Internacional FC, Garcia's hiring represents a major advancement in his career.
Garcia thanked Marquez and QFA for giving him the chance to be the team's leader.
The 26th Gulf Cup Championship will begin in Kuwait on December 21st, with Garcia serving as Qatar's captain.
