HE Buthaina Bint Ali Al Jaber Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, recently addressed Qatar's global role through external development in areas such as education, health and economic empowerment.
With Qatar National Vision 2030 in mind, Al Nuaimi emphasized that Qatar is one of the leading countries in the digital transformation of the education sector. With recent developments during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been noted that Qatar has adapted to digital reforms in record time globally.
Crediting wise leadership in this sector, the minister highlighted factors like well-trained educational cadres, electronic platforms, communication networks and digital resources that led to competent learning for students using modern technology.
The minister emphasized Qatar's continued need to prioritize education under the leadership of Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. At the conference Qatar submitted a draft to adopt the International Day to Protect Education from Attacks in 2019.
In an interview with the Qatar News Agency in New York, HE Al Nuaimi also focused on the General Assembly's unanimous resolution on the right to education in times of emergency, a resolution tabled in 2010 with the support of the Qatari Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa. Emphasizing the e-learning strategy aims to help children become more equipped and develop their digital skills, H.E acknowledged their importance in preparing young people for the future. The Minister appreciated the determination and efforts of the State to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, including the fourth goal, Rethinking the Future of Education.
