The Qatar Mobile Payment (QMP), which unites all Qatari mobile payment service providers, is the country's first immediate national digital wallet for transactions.
Through digital wallets that are registered on the QMP system, the solution offers a fresh and secure way for instant payments and instant money transfers via smartphones around the clock. The same consumer who owns the wallet at his bank may also move funds from the wallet to bank accounts and vice versa. This should lessen the dangers associated with handling cash (coins and paper money) and resulting loss, damage, and other issues.
Registration can be through any payment services providers (Banks and Authorised PSP) participating in the system.
Notes:
• Citizens and residents may register multiple wallets in compliance with the guidelines established by the Qatar Central Bank and the payment service provider.
• Each visitor is only permitted to register one wallet.
• A mobile phone number, an alias name, or both can be used to identify the service.
• Each mobile number, alias, or both are registered under a single wallet.
Requirements for digital wallet registration:
• QID for citizens and residents.
• Proof of identity for visitors (passport and entry visa)
• Smartphone with internet connection
• An active mobile number from one of the Qatari telecom companies
Advantages of QMP:
• Expanding payment methods and electronic transfers in the country.
• Achieving financial inclusion by providing services to all segments of society, including citizens’ residents, and visitors to the country.
• Remittances and payments are instant and around the clock.
• Instant transfers to individuals by phone number or alias.
• Facilitating electronic payments for merchants through the QR Code
• Register and create a digital wallet remotely.
• Registration does not require a minimum balance.
• Reduce dependence on cash
• Low commissions.
