Qatar moved up two places in the Global Innovation Index compared to 2022 and ranks 50th among 132 countries, according to WIPO report

According to a study issued on September 27 by the UN's World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Qatar has improved two spots in the Global Innovation Index (GII) from 2022 and is currently ranked 50th out of 132 nations. 132 economies from across the world were polled and studied for the GII 2023, which used 80 variables to evaluate each economy's capacity for innovation and quantifiable outcomes. The paper claims that Qatar has been more effective at transferring innovative input into performance. The nation's global innovation index increased from 32.9 to 33.4 this year.

According to this year's GII rankings, Qatar is the third most inventive nation in the Middle East, after the United Arab Emirates (32nd) and Saudi Arabia (48th). Qatar is ranked sixth in the category of Northern Africa and Western Asia. Human capital and research, institutions, infrastructure, market sophistication, and business sophistication are the pillars of the GII input. The output performance is made up of creativity as well as technological and knowledge outputs. Qatar's GII rating highlights the nation's dedication to fostering innovation while simultaneously developing a sustainable and knowledge-based economy.

A technology and innovation expert recently declared that Qatar is developing as one of the world's top nations in terms of embracing new technology and innovation.
