NewsQatar Museums unveiled new designs and a virtual flythrough video of the upcoming Lusail Museum, providing fresh insights into the structure of this elite cultural center and international think tank, which is being created by the Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron.
Through discussion, creativity, and innovation, the Lusail Museum will investigate the flow of people and ideas throughout the world, past and present, and contribute to bridging a divided world with its unmatched collection of Orientalist art. With the involvement of eminent academics, artists, decision-makers, thought leaders, curators, and others, the Lusail Museum will offer chances for advanced research, conversation, debate, and mediation on important international topics.
As "a vertically layered souk, or miniature city contained within a single building," the museum's architecture embodies this goal of convergence and dialogue. It will serve as the cultural hub of Lusail City, the sustainable metropolis now under development north of Doha.
The museum designed by Herzog & de Meuron is at the southernmost point of Al Maha island and serves as a tangible reminder of the island. The plan's circular shape expresses a particular reaction to Doha's and the Middle East's construction traditions while also having a global significance.
