Qatar National Convention Centre will resonate with the timeless melodies of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 on Wednesday

The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) and Qatar Concert Choir will combine to provide a captivating performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 on Wednesday, filling the stage at the Qatar National Convention Centre with its timeless melodies. Boundaries will not stand in the way of this musical celebration of friendship, compassion, and joy. 

Beethoven's first-ever use of a choir in a symphony was highlighted by Kurt Meister, the Executive Director of QPO, in his remarks on the historic event. Meister discussed how Beethoven's masterwork is still relevant today, emphasising how its message of cooperation and brotherhood fits in well with the concert's overall theme.

With its origins in the 50th anniversary festivities between South Korea and Qatar, Symphony No. 9 is a particularly significant performance. Even though the event was rescheduled until March, the spirit of friendship and cross-cultural interaction endures. Meister emphasised Beethoven's Ninth Symphony's enduring significance for mankind, pointing out that it is the anthem of the European Union and that it was included on a DVD that was sent into space.
