Qatar prepared to accomodate disabled fans during FIFA World Cup 2022

HE the Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad has said that Qatar has embraced all the opportunities for caring for disabled people in the region and internationally, at all levels.

During her chairmanship of the two-day workshop on Disability Classification in the Arab World held in Doha and organized by the Ministry of Social Development and Family in partnership with the Secretariat General of the Arab League, HE al-Misnad emphasized the importance of empowering people with disabilities being included in the Arab community, not excluded from it.

An initiative such as this is an important part of the Arab Entrepreneurship Adventure that Jordan will launch in 2025 by hosting the Third World Summit for Persons with Disabilities in partnership with Germany. HE the Minister proposed the adoption of a unified Arab classification based on practical classification components that extend beyond the square determined by the medical standard, and not reducing it, but combining it with skills, societal, and educational standards.

The Minister noted that when the Arab group succeeds in overcoming the traditional challenges in the classification it faces, it will be at the forefront of global efforts as the first region in the world, as this precedent is part of an important global file.

She emphasized Qatar's readiness to host persons with disabilities during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, considering that less than five months remain until the tournament becomes the first Arab Mondial in history. Also, claiming that Qatar has been undergoing unprecedented preparations to make the tournament more accessible to persons with disabilities.

There are a number of Mondial stadiums equipped with sensory rooms designed exclusively for people with disabilities, providing the perfect atmosphere for children with autism and neuro-behavioral disorders to enjoy the atmosphere of the matches in a safe environment equipped with all the advanced devices and tools.

Moreover, preparations extend to welcoming the masses from outside Qatar – Hamad International Airport hosts a hall called Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities that offers state-of-the-art technology and educational and rehabilitation equipment to ensure spectators with disabilities and autism have the best travel experience they deserve.
