NewsThe Qatar Railways corporation (Qatar Rail) welcomed the start of the new academic year by announcing the return of its plan for school visits on the Doha Metro system. A number of schools collaborated on the inaugural educational tour for kids, and it was an exciting experience full of knowledge and exploration.
The school visits programme, which is a component of Qatar Rail's CSR programme, gives students an immersive experience and an inside look at the Doha Metro network, its different facilities, network operations, and connectivity to important Doha destinations. The programme also emphasises the metro's environmental benefits as a green means of transportation.
Students learnt about various travel cards, Doha Metro train carriages, and important safety precautions in both stations and onboard the trains during the first visit sponsored by Qatar Rail. They also learnt about supporting services like Metrolink and Metroexpress, as well as other facilities like Park and Ride, and how these services help to offer passengers services from and to the metro stations in a smooth travel experience.
Students visited the station's control and command centre during their tour of Msheireb Station, where the three metro lines intersect, to gain an understanding of how it keeps track of passenger movement, ensures smooth operations, and maintains the safety and security of passengers as they travel.
These excursions serve two purposes: they increase students' knowledge of public transit and encourage them to use the metro for their everyday commute. In a world where protecting the environment is crucial, Qatar Rail is setting the example by encouraging this eco-aware mindset in the next generation.
Schools who are interested in taking part in the programme for school visits can arrange everything by getting in touch with Qatar Rail's Department of Communication and Public Relations.
