Qatar Rail has achieved green building certification for its commitment to sustainable practices at the Al Bidda station of Doha Metro

In recognition of its dedication to environmentally friendly practises, Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has earned green building certification at the Doha Metro station Al Bidda, which is next to Al Bidda Park. The station has received a GSAS operations certificate after being assessed using the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), earning it a coveted platinum grade from the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD).

Senior executives from the relevant companies as well as notable guests attended the awarding event where Qatar Rail received the GSAS Operations Platinum accreditation. Following Education City Station, which obtained it in October 2022, Al Bidda Station is now the second metro station in the Doha Metro network to achieve the GSAS Platinum Certificate for sustainable operations.

Dr. Yousef Alhorr, the founding chairman of GORD, spoke at the ceremony and praised Qatar Rail for its commitment to adopting green construction standards throughout all its metro stations.

The GSAS Design & Build 4-Star accreditation and the GSAS Construction Management Class A certificate were previously awarded to Al Bidda Metro Station in honour of their environmental initiatives. The project's most recent GSAS Operations accreditation affirms Qatar Rail's dedication to environmentally responsible operations.
