NewsDue to the nation's strong economic growth and consistent population increase, Qatar has seen a spike in the sale of new vehicles, particularly automobiles. In the first seven months of this year, 53,558 new cars were registered nationwide, up 13.7 percent from 47,111 during the same time in 2023. The National Planning Council has issued data showing that over 70% of all new cars registered so far this year are private automobiles.
With 8,903 registrations, May had the largest number of new cars in 2024. January came in second with 8,512 registrations. March saw 7,835 cars registered overall; July had 7,733 cars registered; February saw 7,231 cars registered; April saw 7,011 cars registered; and June saw 6,333 new cars registered.
A constant increase in the population and persistent economic expansion are the main causes of the spike in car sales. By the end of August 2024, 3.054 million people called Qatar home, according to the National Planning Council.
In recent decades, Qatar has seen exceptional economic expansion and infrastructure development, which have been accompanied by a continually growing population. Even while Qatar continues to draw talented people from all over the world, the number of visitors and tourists has significantly increased. Qatar Tourism figures indicate that in the first three quarters of 2024, the country had around 3.6 million tourists.
