Qatar’s hospitality industry witnessed a boom in the second quarter of the year

With several hotel keys opening and guests arriving, Qatar's hospitality sector saw a surge in the second quarter of this year. The country's hotel occupancy rates increased by 29% over the same period in 2023 and stayed stable at 69%, following a survey conducted by ValuStrat.

This year, from April to June, the Average Daily Rate (ADR) was QR454, a 7% year-over-year rise. Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR), meanwhile, increased by 38% annually to QR312.

Anum Hassan, Head of Research, Qatar at ValuStrat, explained the market's surge, stating that visitor arrivals rose by 26% year over year and that this led to a 38% yearly increase in RevPAR. The government also started the Simaisma Project, a significant new cultural landmark, in addition to the development in leisure.

The Ministry of Municipality & Environment presented the project's debut, which included an 8 million square metre mega entertainment zone. A yacht club, marina, golf course, restaurants, stores, luxury resorts, an amusement park, residential villas, and many other amenities are included in the QR20 billion project overseen by Qatari Diar.

According to statistics from Qatar Tourism, the nation's entire hospitality stock is projected to be 39,915 keys, including 26% of hotels and serviced apartments and 74% of hotel rooms. Of these, 4 to 5 star hotels made up 66% of the entire stock, with the remaining 8% falling into the 3–4 star category. Other initiatives included the rebranding of the 175-room Mercure Grand Hotel Doha in Msheireb (Zone 4) to Treffen House Doha.

The overall number of foreign arrivals exceeded 2.9 million, indicating a significant year-over-year rise of 26%. Out of all the international arrivals, forty-three percent came from the GCC countries, while the remaining 19 and 23 percent came by plane from other Asian and European nations, respectively.
