Qatar University Young Scientists Centre won the silver award at the Reimagine Education 2022

News Reimagine Education 2022The Reimagine Education Awards are the Oscars in education, rewarding innovative approaches that enhance student learning outcomes and employability and providing funding and support for the winners overall. It has many sponsors and partners, the most important of which are Microsoft, IBM, Google, and Nova University Lisbon. Qatar University Young Scientists Centre won the silver award at the Reimagine Education 2022 conference and competition. This victory was achieved among 1,100 nominated projects from 77 countries during four rounds of careful and intensive arbitration led by 500 arbitrators specialised in education and innovation.
The centre has achieved this victory among many competitors for its use of effective and innovative teaching methods that have been developed in keeping with international methodologies and origins of education, which motivate students to learn, be creative and actively participate in the educational process.
Reimagine Education is a global conference and competition that brings together educational innovators from around the world. The conference brings together edtech startups, innovative education institutions, academic faculty from top institutions and universities, chief innovation officers, university leadership, educators, and all those interested in the future of education and higher education. Dr. Noora Al Thani, Director of the Qatar University Young Scientists Centre, expressed her pride in this great achievement, representing success for Qatar University and the country.
She thanked the centre’s partners, the Unesco Doha office, and the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science. The competition and conference were established by the University of Wharton in the United States of America and the QS company that specialises in evaluating universities globally.
One of the most important methodologies used is to involve students in applied scientific research, prepare them to work as promising researchers, train them to work in Qatar University research laboratories, gain experience using the latest laboratory equipment, and stimulate their sense of creativity and innovation.
The centre also includes various STEAM programmes suitable for all academic levels, which provide its members with an educational environment that encourages them to enter the university level and determine the appropriate specialisation for them. It is also interested in strengthening several participants’ skills, such as critical and creative thinking skills, analysis, effective communication skills in various forms, and refining their leadership personalities.
