QatarEnergy inaugurated the first conventional-size LNG vessel under its historic shipbuilding program

NewsThe first LNG ship of conventional size was launched by QatarEnergy as part of its groundbreaking shipbuilding initiative. In honour of the former ExxonMobil chairman and CEO's lifetime achievements in the oil industry, the "Rex Tillerson" was created.
The president and CEO of QatarEnergy, His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, and the Minister of State for Energy Affairs attended the customary naming ceremony, which took place at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai, China. The CEO of QatarEnergy LNG, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Jia Haiying, the Chairman of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and Member of the Party Leadership Group, Takeshi Hashimoto, the President and CEO of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Zhu Bixin, the President of China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited, QatarEnergy's first Chinese shipowner, and senior executives from QatarEnergy and QatarEnergy LNG were also present at the ceremony.
The two vessels are under long-term charter with QatarEnergy Trading (QET), and are expected to arrive ahead of their scheduled delivery date.
Modern dual-fuel engines, generators, and boilers on the boats, together with the strictest safety, technical, and environmental regulations, further minimise fuel use and emissions.
