QRCS announced the allocation of $1m for urgent relief work and to improve humanitarian conditions in war-torn Sudan

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has been providing heroic assistance to those in need in areas affected by natural disasters or armed conflict.

The QRCS said on Monday that $1 million had been set aside for immediate relief efforts and to ameliorate the humanitarian situation in thr-torn Sudan.

Over 119,000 people from 17,000 households will get help, which will be dispersed in collaboration with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and the Sudanese Ministry of Health.

In addition to non-food assistance supplies, QRCS stated it will carry out a six-month urgent intervention in the areas of health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and housing. According to the report, a jet from Doha carrying 22 tonnes of critical humanitarian relief, including food and medical supplies, had landed at Port Sudan Airport.

The jet was welcomed by the president of SRCS, Dr. Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, Director of the Relief and International Development Sector at QRCS, and Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al Sada, Qatar's ambassador to Sudan.

For the third day in a row, QRCS continued to help those in need in Sudan by providing food baskets to residents of Gezira, residents of two shelters for Rifa'a evacuees, and residents of five shelters in Al Hasaheisa.

In these centers, the aid helped over 650 individuals from 95 households.

The QRCS had already sprung into action by sending millions of dollars in help to Turkey, which had been devastated by the earthquake. Additionally, they deployed skilled experts and medical personnel to coordinate search and rescue efforts.

A second group of medical professionals departed for Syria to undertake difficult surgery on earthquake victims.

However, there were casualties in the search and rescue efforts in Syria and Turkey. During the activities, four QRCS employees perished.

The nation willingly donated thousands of dollars to the cause as it enthusiastically welcomed the relief efforts. Over QR168 million was raised for the Aoun Wa Sanad earthquake relief effort in Qatar in only one day.
