The announcement was made during a press conference held jointly by the Technical Office of the Minister of Municipality, the Public Works Authority "Ashghal," and the Digital Innovation Department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's Digital Industry Sector.
The Corniche, West Bay, and Central Doha public parking lots will all have sensors and identifying panels installed, according to their recently disclosed plans. The goal of Qatar's parking regulation initiative is to provide a number of beneficial results that will ultimately improve both metropolitan areas' and residents' quality of life. The most important of these goals are as follows:
- Minimising traffic jams and congestion in densely populated regions by effective parking spot management.
- Encouraging more people to use public transit to reduce emissions, pollution, and traffic congestion.
- Improving rates of road traffic safety and reducing infractions related to inappropriate parking.
- Improving the return on infrastructure investment so that it may be used to fund development efforts while making the most of Qatar's land and road resources.
The Ashghal-based Doha City Design Team is led by engineer Mohammed Ali Al Marri, who said that the infrastructure for about 18,210 car parking lots has been completed in various places Work is being done to guarantee that the Tasmu project's smart parking management system covers all facets of parking reservations, fee collecting, infraction control, and penalty enforcement in accordance with statutory requirements and ministerial recommendations.
The Technical Office at the Ministry of Municipality is actively working with Ashghal and relevant departments within the Ministry, particularly municipalities, project management, and information systems management, to complete the roadmap for managing both public and private parking in the nation.
