NewsBy stressing the nation's up to USD 2.3 billion aid to support education internationally through strategic partnerships, H.E. Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi stated that supporting education globally is at the top of the State of Qatar's development goal. According to Her Excellency, this assistance allowed millions of students to take advantage of high-quality educational opportunities since the programmes produced observable outcomes that allowed young people to contribute to the growth and well-being of their communities.
The comments were made by Her Excellency as she was taking part in the High-Impact Initiative on Transforming Education in New York, which had as its topic "Learning to build a better future for all." The meeting was attended by Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN.
H.E. Al Nuaimi emphasised the significance of the shared commitment to ensuring access to high-quality education for everyone and that education is a shared global interest and a key factor in the achievement of all 17 SDGs.
To put education at the top of the political agenda, HE UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for the Transforming Education Summit (TES) in the previous UNGA. The session is part of efforts to strengthen global efforts to accelerate achieving the fourth SDG on the quality of education and to ensure the continuity of the global movement towards doing so.
The initiatives programme included several sessions centred on countries' experiences with the agenda for transforming education financing, presenting initiatives to achieve investment in a greater, more efficient, and equitable manner, and exchanging the opinions of youth and students and their reactions to the experiences of their countries.
The State of Qatar was selected at the invitation of H.E. the UN Secretary-General during the TES 2022 to be one of the five pioneering nations spearheading the transformation of education. This choice demonstrates the importance that the State of Qatar places on promoting education both domestically and abroad.
