Taking pictures of road accidents by unauthorised persons or the public is illegal, and will be subject to imprisonment and a fine

The General Directorate of Traffic in Qatar has emphasised that it is unlawful for anyone—including members of the public—to take images of traffic incidents without authorisation. Violators will be subject to legal repercussions.

Speaking to Qatar TV, Captain Khalid Abdullah Al Kuwari of the General Traffic Department's Traffic Investigation Officer warned anybody found snapping images without permission of facing jail time and a fine.

According to Article 333 of the Penal Code of Qatar, an individual who unlawfully enters into the private life of another person without that person's agreement faces a maximum sentence of two years in jail and/or a fine of QAR 10,000.

According to Captain Al Kuwari, recording an accident with the goal of raising awareness might put one in danger of legal repercussions because the victims can suffer harm from injuries or even death.

Taking pictures of individuals is not required, even when using Metrash to record a traffic infraction, as per Captain Al Kuwari.
