‘The Journey A Tale of the Arabian Horse’ art exhibition was inaugurated by General Manager of Cultural Village Foundation Katara Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti yesterday. The opening ceremony was attended by H E Sheikh Thani bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, and a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs, Ambassadors and dignitaries.
Katara General Manager said that people of Qatar have been associated with horses since ancient times, and organising the exhibition in conjunction with the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF-2023) is nothing but a celebration due to importance of horses.
“The exhibition features documentary journey in beautiful and distinctive way, through the paintings by artist Peter Upton, the most important features of the Arabian horse and its forms that make it unique from others,” said Dr. Al Sulaiti.
He said that the exhibition is a window of knowledge for everyone who wants to see the beauty of horses and learn more about the historical sequence of Arabian horses.
The exhibition features over 100 paintings by British artist Peter Upton, a collection of collectors from Qatar and Kuwait. They are Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Sheikh Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Sheikh Nasser bin Abdullah Al Thani, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hassan Al Thani, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Thani, Arhama Issa Al Sahlawi and Rashid Ali Al Kuwari, Ahmed Sultan Al Ghanem, and Saif Muhammad AlHajri.
From Kuwai are Sheikha Sarah Al Fahd Al Sabah, Muhammad Jassem Al Marzouq and Talal Abdullah Al Mahri.
The idea of the exhibition came to take the visitor on an aesthetic, cognitive and documentary journey, through which he learns through the paintings, the historical sequence of horses, their forms and the elements of their beauty.
The exhibition will receive visitors from 10am to 10pm in Building No. 13 of Katara and continues until the end of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival.
