According to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health's recommendations, the Ministry of Public Health has published updated health standards for people traveling to do Umrah or visit the Prophet's Mosque.
All citizens and residents who are traveling for Umrah or visiting the Prophet's Mosque must now have the meningococcal (quadrivalent ACYW-135) vaccine, according to the Ministry. Children ages one and up are included, and the vaccination must be given at least ten days before the trip. Protecting pilgrims' and tourists' health and wellbeing is the goal of this measure.
The Ministry further stated that Primary Health Care Corporation Centers (PHCC) offer the necessary vaccinations for the Hajj and Umrah. Additionally, the Ministry encouraged citizens and residents, especially those who are most at risk, to follow the advised health standards for illness prevention.
Though they are not required, the Ministry also noted that Saudi authorities have advised pilgrims to get the Covid-19 and seasonal influenza vaccines. Nonetheless, Saudi regulations mandate that visitors from nations where either wild poliovirus or vaccine-derived poliovirus (VDVF2 and VDVF1) is circulating must be vaccinated against polio. Likewise, individuals traveling from areas where yellow fever is prevalent are required to have the vaccine.
