Eid Al Adha is being observed across the nation today with an array of celebrations, traditional feasts, entertainment, workshops, and other activities.
Both public and private organisations have organised events to celbrate the occasion, and as a precautionary measure, residents and citizens are required to wear masks in closed public areas such as malls, amusement centres, and restaurants. This mandate has been implemented on Thursday because of the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country.
A list of around 588 mosques and prayer locations for the Eid Al Adha prayer which starts at 5.05am has been made public by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs which can be accessed through its social media pages.
Weeklong activities for children and adult alike have been prepared for the holidays. At the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, Eid activities started yesterday and will continue until July 19. It will be distributing Eidiya to kids inside cars at the evening at its main entrances.
Building 18 will host a number of kid-friendly events till the third day of Eid from 3pm to 9pm, this includes canvas, ceramic, and face paintings, slime, balloon twisting, and mascots shows. Children’s Theatre will also feature a variety of events and workshops, such as face painting, balloon sculpting, painting on canvas, and ceramic painting. T-shirts and coloring books will also be given out as gifts to children.
From the second day of Eid to the fourth day, 2D and 3D movies will be shown at Al Thuraya Planetarium. And from July 9 to July 12 at Katara Drama Theatre, the drama “Karim Challenges the Leader” will be shown. Meanwhile, visitors can arrive at Katara Beach as early as 3pm. There is a 50 percent discount on water activities, and those under the age of 18 are admitted free.
Malls across the country have also lined-up celebrations for the holidays, at Al Khor Mall, a free henna design will be held; Hyatt Plaza is hosting Art Factory workshop until July 15; Mall of Qatar has a series of interactive kids’ activities including African Circus, Arts & Crafts, Henna, and meet and greet with professional footballer Marcelo Vieira.
At Gulf Mall, magician and clown shows await kids and families from July 9 to 11; Royal Plaza Mall, Magic Show, Cartoon Characters, Henna, Face Painting, and Balloon shaping will be conducted on the first three days of Eid.
Each day, 100 free gifts token are to be distributed; Doha Festival City hosts new international show, and a dedicated kids’ corner will run until July 16.
The Pearl-Qatar will have various celebrations including Henna, art workshops, calligraphy and paintings, from July 9 to 13 at 29 La Croisette, Porto Arabia. At Hotel Park, from July 9 to 11, Circus Parade, Parade Musician, and Kids art and crafts corner with roaming duo clowns will be held respectively.
Msheireb Museums will host an Eid Bottle Art on July 12,a nd Eid Led light painting on July 13 and 14 where kids aged 5-7 and 8-14 are invited to participate.
Various hotels, and resorts have also offered discounts and promotions in commemoration of Eid Al Adha for families who want to do staycation during the holidays.
Additionally, there are special offers from retail stores for people who wish to go shopping.
