The deadline for submitting applications for the Design Doha Prize, a biennial celebration of creative innovation, is quickly coming on January 30. Next month, Qatar Museums will host its first-ever design biennial in Doha, which aims to present the current state of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region's design scene.
The 2024 edition of the award, which is open to practitioners in the MENA region, is centred around the idea of "design excellence." Through the provision of a monetary reward, mentorship, exposure, logistical help, and insurance coverage, the main objective is to foster the skill and originality of MENA designers.
The award aims to provide designers more authority, insightful advice, and a wider platform to showcase their work. Product design, interior design, furniture design, and craft are the four categories offered by the Design Doha Prize. Each category has a cash reward of QR100,000 in addition to market visibility, business mentorship possibilities, logistical help, and insurance coverage for a full year following the awards day.
Having a well-established design business with at least two years of trade experience in furniture design, product design, interior design, or craft is one of the eligibility requirements.
