Fire Station: Artist in Residence has announced the open call of its 9th edition of the Artist in Residence programme

The 9th iteration of Fire Station: Artist in Residence (AIR) initiative is now accepting applications. It will take place from February 11 to April 14. September 15 is when the nine-month residency is expected to start.

The goal of the elite artist residence project AIR is to support, inspire, and grow Qatar's creative and artistic community. Through access to studio space, experienced mentorships, curatorial guidance, and production support, it gives young artists the chance to develop their potential. Artists will have the chance to display their works in an exhibition hosted in the Garage Gallery at the conclusion of their residence.

The roughly 700 square foot Fire Station: Artist in Residence garage has been transformed into a separate exhibition space known as the "Garage Gallery." Qatar Museums has arranged world-class exhibits in addition to public exhibitions featuring the work of artists-in-residence.

"We are thrilled to announce the return of the much-anticipated Artist in Residence programme at Fire Station for its 9th edition," stated Khalifa Ahmad Al Obaidly, Director of Fire Station: Artist in Residence. Local artists of all genres who are over 21 and possess a valid Qatar ID are eligible to apply till April 14.

In addition, Fire Station: Artist in Residence works with neighbourhood groups and entities on a variety of projects and workshops that aim to include programme participants as well as the larger community.
