First edition of Umm Salal Winter Festival launched to support local products

DOHA: The inaugural Umm Salal Winter Festival kicked off yesterday, aiming to promote local products through the participation of farms and factories. Organized under the Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Agricultural Affairs Department, and in collaboration with Hassad Food Company, the festival is being held at the Umm Salal Central Market.

The festival’s opening event featured the “Dates Exhibition,” which saw the participation of 14 farms and 3 factories. This exhibition will run until November 30.

Umm Salal Winter Festival seeks to support and market local products such as dates, vegetables, and fruits, with a particular emphasis on projects involving productive families.

The festival will host a variety of events and exhibitions from November 21 to February 19, designed to offer a prominent marketing platform for local producers during the winter season.

The festival’s schedule includes:

Dates Exhibition: November 21-30.

Traditional Market Exhibition: December 5-14.

Flowers Exhibition: December 19-26, 2024.

In 2025, the exhibitions will continue with:

Honey Exhibition: January 9-18.

Strawberry & Figs Exhibition: January 30-February 8.

Kanar Exhibition: February 13-19, 2025.
