The fourth Katara Oud Festival, presented by the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), began on Wednesday with a number of international renowned composers.
The festival, which runs until January 25, highlights Katara's steadfast efforts to honor musical heritage and elevate the oud instrument as a traditional component of Arab culture. Along with participatory seminars and panel discussions, it offers a plethora of musical events and performances.
The Qatari oud composer Abdulaziz Haidos will be honored along with the members of the Katara Music Academy talent award jury panel during this edition, which brings together music lovers and oud playing instructors. The festival will conclude with concerts.
The festival gives the public a chance to hear live performances by international composers who will exemplify the art ethos of these distinctive musical instruments as representations of musical creativity and depth.
