Geekend Game Jam from November 20 to 23 aims to foster the skills of homegrown gaming talent

With Doha Film Institute, Media City Qatar, and SCALE7's Geekend Game Jam, video game developers and aficionados now have a powerful new platform to push their creative boundaries, work with like-minded individuals, and hone their abilities. 

The four-day challenge, which takes place from November 20 to 23, falls during the well-liked Geekend events at Ajyal 2024, which unites the community for the nation's most important pop-culture gathering. The initiatives seek to develop the abilities of domestic gamers and fortify the underpinnings of the quickly developing gaming industry, which is expected to increase by $363 billion globally by 2027.

The Geekend Game Jam will test the nation's best game developers and fans' ability to make creative video games from scratch in a condensed amount of time. It will take place at the Geekdom Building on Lusail Boulevard. On the first day of Geekend, just before the Game Jam begins, the special theme for the first edition will be revealed. 

Participants can test their abilities, pick up new talents, and show off their love of gaming in the perfect setting throughout the four days of nonstop game production. Working alone or in groups of up to three people gives creators the creative freedom and flexibility they need to produce engaging video games. 

An expert jury will assess the games' inventiveness, technical proficiency, and theme alignment. Up to five teams from the Game Jam will be given preference when applying for the 12-week SCALE7 Business Incubation Program, which offers workshops, mentorship, and carefully selected programming. 

Two more prizes are up for grabs: a Game Launcher package from Scale7, which includes a cash prize of QR25,000, and a Game Start-up package from Geekdom, which includes a cash award of QR15,000 and a subsidized start-up process from Media City Qatar, which enables the winner to establish themselves as a legitimate business.
