Launch of the What Gravity Challenge; event to take place on May 9 at Katara Amphitheatre

News EventThe world's top high jumpers will find it interesting to meet Mutaz Barshim's catchphrase, "What gravity." The reigning Olympic champion from Qatar, flanked by legendary high jumpers Javier Sotomayor of Cuba and Patrik Sjoberg of Sweden, announced on Wednesday the inauguration of the What Gravity Challenge, which will include the world's top-ranked competitors.
A day before the Doha Diamond League meeting, which will feature elite track and field athletes competing at Qatar Sports Club, the thrilling event will take place on May 9 at Katara Amphitheatre.
As advocates for the exciting battle are Sotomayor, who owns the world record for the highest leap, which he made in 1993 at 2.45 metres, and Sjoberg, who comes in third place with a jump of 2.42 metres, behind Barshim's personal best of 2.43 metres.
