NewsThe Qatar Foundation's Education City Tram has unveiled its new Green Line, which connects Education City's North and South Campuses. Education City Community Housing, Qatar Foundation (QF) research centres, the Premier Inn Doha Education City Hotel, Qatar Science & Technology Park, Qatar National Convention Centre, and Sidra Medicine are among the stops on the North Campus, with the South Campus housing universities and schools at Education City. The new line, which officially opened on 29 July, also connects Education City Community Housing to both campuses.
"The Education City Tram supports MOT's efforts and plans for delivering an integrated, sustainable public transit network in Qatar, which covers all urban areas and forms a coherent transportation unit that connects public buses, Doha Metro, and Lusail Tram, given that Education City is already connected to that system with bus and metro stations," Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalid Al-Thani, Technical Office Director, Ministry of Transport, said.
"Expanding the scope of service for the Education City Tram also contributes to the MOT's strategy for a full transition to a transport system powered by clean, eco-friendly electric energy, with the goal of serving the country's sustainable development requirements and implementing Qatar's National Environment and Climate Change Strategy, bringing us one step closer to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030."
"The launch of the Green Line further signifies QF's commitment to a sustainable campus," stated Nasser Al Hajri, Executive Director of Capital Projects at QF.
"As an innovator, we prioritise the well-being of our Education City community, as well as reducing carbon emissions and fostering a greener future." This investment in environmentally friendly mobility not only improves the quality of life for students and employees, but also demonstrates our commitment to creating a successful, ecologically responsible community for future generations."
