As Qatar will be providing a variety of activities and go-to places during the holy month of Ramadan, the public can experience different cultural traditions, games and workshops from Doha to Lusail to Al Wakra.

The traditional cannon firing can be witnessed across the country. It is fired just before the adhan (call for prayer) for Maghrib prayer, which also marks the conclusion of fasting each day. This custom may be seen firsthand in Souq Waqif, Souq Wakra, Lusail Boulevard, Katara Cultural Village, and the garden opposite Box Park.

During Ramadan, the administration of Souq Waqif will provide free Iftar meals and gifts to children at the traditional old marketplace.

Throughout the blessed month, the Cultural Village Foundation in Katara will conduct 23 programmes. It was announced yesterday that they would be organising an Arab postage stamp museum exhibition and a contest in which everyone can participate and win a cash prize of QR1,000.

The “Find a Stamp” competition is held once a week following Tarawih prayer, and the participant who finds the stamp from the collection in the museum’s exhibition hall wins a cash reward.

Among other activities are Cultural seminars in Arabic literature, Fine art and photography exhibition, Katara Electronic Games Champsionship, Katara Religious Lectures, Ramadan Mural, Garangao activities on the 15th day of Ramadan, Ramadan Lanterns Festival, and World Theatre Day.

Meanwhile, Lusail Boulevard, which recently held the 12th Qatar International Food Festival, will provide a selection of traditional events throughout Ramadan, including a car display or parade before Iftar, Ramadan tents, and dining options. “A serene environment awaits you at Lusail Boulevard this Ramadan. It is the perfect place for friends and family,” a statement said.

The colourful Mina District, which has evolved as a popular destination in recent months, has also planned 20 activities for the holy month. At Souq el Mina, visitors may enjoy a variety of items such as apparel and food, to mention a few. Approximately 80 small entrepreneurs and home businesses, as well as brands and unique items suitable for this month from local commercial units, are taking part in various events at the district. Mina District will also host Ghabga, Mina Majilis, and art programmes for kids, including pottery painting and other artistic activities.

For individuals who want to challenge their sports skills, the ninth edition of the Ramadan Sports Festival at Aspire is back and will run from March 28 to April 8. The Aspire Zone Foundation said that the 12-day festival would include eight events ranging from sports competitions to physical challenges.
