Qatar will host the 2024 Global Security Forum from May 20 to 22

The 2024 Global Security Forum, which will be held in Qatar from May 20 to 22, will bring together politicians, security specialists, and world leaders. The forum will delve into the topic of "Strategic Competition: The Complexity of Interdependence," and is being sponsored by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. This esteemed occasion will explore the complex dynamics of international security, tackling a broad spectrum of issues and prospects influenced by our globalized society.

An esteemed international group of ministers, government representatives, representatives of security and law enforcement organizations, and prominent media figures will come together for this invitation-only event. His Excellency Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda; His Excellency Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, the prime minister of Iraq; His Excellency K Shanmugam, the minister of home affairs and law of the Republic of Singapore; His Excellency Ali Ihusaan, the minister of home affairs of the Republic of the Maldives; and His Excellency Robert Dussey, the minister of foreign affairs, cooperation, and African integration of Togo are among the notable attendees.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, will open the forum by highlighting Qatar's crucial role in promoting international cooperation and dialogue in the face of rising global tensions. This will set the tone for the discussions that will follow. 

A number of ministerial fireside chats, high-level speeches, and panel discussions are included in the program to discuss a range of topics, including how small states are affected by global strategic competition, the effects of the Gaza War, the changing nature of international threats, the resolution of hostage situations, Africa's security challenges, national security and counterterrorism, threats to human security in the Global South, and the potential for artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to spark a modern arms race.

In cooperation with a number of prestigious organizations and agencies, the Qatar International Academy for Security Studies (QIASS) and The Soufan Center are organizing the Global Security Forum 2024. These include The Soufan Group, New America Foundation, Defense One, and the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED).
