The second iteration of the Qatar University (QU) Book Fair got underway yesterday in style at the campus's new Student Affairs building.
Attended by dignitaries, regional publishers, and book lovers, the occasion symbolises a major partnership between 34 publishing firms, Qatari institutions, and colleges from around the country. The Ministry of Culture and QU Press collaborated to create the expo, which is a four-day literary immersion that runs from 9 am to 6 pm. The National Archives, the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), and representatives from Arab universities and research centres are among the notable participants.
The formal start of a cultural festival was marked by the inauguration, which was presided over by Professors Mariam Al Maadeed, Research and Graduate Studies at QU, Eiman Mustafawi, Student Affairs at QU, and Fatma Al Sowaidi, Director of QU Press. This event was produced in collaboration with QU Press, the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, and the Ministry of Culture.
