Souq Waqif Exhibition for Honey and Dates has been extended until March 14

Souq Waqif Exhibition for Honey and Dates, held at Al Ahmad Square, has been extended until Tuesday, March 14 considering public demand. The festival was supposed to conclude tomorrow but because of the strong request from the public, the weeklong festival has been extended to another three day.  

Festival Supervisor, Khalid Al Suwaidi told that the public wanted more time for them to shop honey and dates and after talks with the management and exhibitors, it has come to a decision to stretch the festival.

Over 160 exhibitors from 25 countries are participating for the fifth edition of the festival. The public can choose to shop over 60 kinds of honey, and five kinds of dates with some of it are “very rare.”

Al Suwaidi has also revealed that they have surpassed the target 23,000 visitors for the festival.

The sales turnout is also remarkable. “Exhibitors from Saudi Arabia finished their honey and dates products on Day 2 alone. As for honey companies – everything is sold out that’s why they are replenishing their products.”

The Festival Supervisor also urged the public to avoid arriving at the last minute of the festival because “you’ll miss the good products which may not be available at that time.”

Honey-Land from Serbia whose among the over 160 exhibitors said just for the festival, they are offering exclusive honey products with limited stocks – Acacia honey with black truffles, and 24-karat edible gold.

Ilija Ibovic and Mina Ibovic, owners of the Honey-Land told The Peninsula that they have over eight different types of honey exhibiting on their second year participation of the festival, first was in 2018. Their honey products prices range from QR120 to QR500.

Among their products are: Meadow honey, Acacia honey, Polen, Acacia honey with dried fruits, Acacia honey and lemon, Acacia honey with green tea, Lyophilized fruit and raw honey, and Organic Honey.

Honey with royal jelly for half kilo costs QR200 which is their best-seller, and honey with gold, QR500. Royal jelly is a honey bee secretion that is used in the nutrition of larvae, as well as adult queens.

Souq Waqif Exhibition for Honey and Dates’ is open from Sunday to Wednesday, 3:30pm to 10pm, while on Thursday to Saturday, 3:30pm to 11pm.
