‘Stand with Palestine’ initiative; More than 27,000 people attended the student-led event on Friday

News EventThe student-led "Stand with Palestine" event drew over 27,000 attendees on Friday night at Education City Stadium. The football game, one of the largest-ever charity events, raised about QAR20 million to aid the Palestinian people.
Alongside local and international athletes, media figures, and social media influencers like Rodrigo Tabata, Yaqub Bushahri, Mohammed Saadoun Al Kuwari, Ali Al Habsi, and Yassin Ibrahimi, who were split into two teams, Qatar and Palestine, participated in the football match. The match was between Qatar Academy Doha (QAD) and Palestinian school students.
The two teams' scores were tied at 2-2 during the first half of the competition, which lasted for more than 30 minutes. At the Education City Stadium on Friday night, about 27,000 people participated in the student-led "Stand with Palestine" event.
The football game raised about QAR20 million for the Palestinian people's cause, making it one of the largest-ever charity events. Playing alongside local and international players, media personalities, and social media influencers, such as Rodrigo Tabata, Yaqub Bushahri, Mohammed Saadoun Al Kuwari, Ali Al Habsi, and Yassin Ibrahimi, was a football match between Qatar Academy Doha (QAD) and Palestinian school students. The teams were divided into two: Qatar and Palestine.
The first half of the match, which lasted for thirty minutes, ended with a score of 2-2 for both sides. With the help of former captain of the Qatar national team Rodrigo Tabata, Qatar took the lead in the fourth minute. However, 12 minutes later, Ecuadorian Carlos Tenorio gave Palestine a point.
In the 22nd, Tabata made a mistake and scored an own goal, giving Palestine a 2-1 lead. However, a goal from student competitor Saud allowed Qatar to tie the score. After neither side was able to score in the second half, Palestine triumphed 4-3 in penalty kicks.
The football game was attended by a number of dignitaries, excellencies, and ministers in addition to HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, the vice chairperson and CEO of the Qatar Foundation.
Students from Qatar Academy Doha (QAD), which is a component of QF's Pre-University Education, started the fund-raising campaign with the intention of involving the neighbourhood and providing them with a chance to demonstrate their support for the Palestinian people.
The money raised from ticket sales will assist with Palestinian humanitarian operations. Additionally, the initiative, in partnership with Qatar Charity, developed a unique internet link that allowed donors to make additional contributions directly to the official channels supporting relief operations in Palestine.
