Katara announced that ten poets qualified for the semi-finals for Katara Prize for Prophet’s Poet.
Participants qualified under Classical poetry category are Haider Al Abdullah from Saudi Arabia, Muhammad Al Mughirfi from Kuwait, Abdul Hamid Hassan Abdullah from Sudan, Maher Muhammad Al Khouli from Syria, and Salah Al Din Al Kho from Mauritania.
Meanwhile, finalists under Nabati poetry category are Rahim Al Ghanami and Abdullah Al Sarahid Al Otaibi, both from Saudi Arabia; Jaber Hamad Al Hajri, Jamal Bandar Al Otaibi, and Abdullah bin Nasser Al Subaie, all from Kuwait.
Another qualifying round is scheduled today, Thursday, wherein six contestants from both categories will be selected and will then be qualified for semi-final round.
The total prize money for Katara Prize for Prophet’s Poet is QR3.8m, in the Classical and Nabati poetry categories. First place winner gets QR1m, and the second place winner receives QR600,000. The third place holder gets QR300,000.
