The draw ceremony for Asian Cup Qatar 2023 will be hosted at the Katara Opera House on Thursday

News EventThe Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Asian Cup Qatar 2023 draw will take place in Doha at the Katara Opera House on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. 2024 will see the competition take place from January 12 to February 10, 2024.
At the event, 24 elite teams will learn how they will advance in the quadrennial competition with the help of a number of renowned football players and senior FIFA and AFC officials.
The six groups (A to F) will each have four of the 24 competing teams in the competition. There will be four pots used for the draw, each holding six teams. The pots are chosen based on the most recent FIFA rankings. The host, Qatar is in Pot 1.
Pot 1: Qatar, Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia
Pot 2: Iraq, UAE, Oman, Uzbekistan, China, Jordan
Pot 3: Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon
Pot 4: India, Tajikistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia
Seven Asian football legends will help AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John as he conducts the primary draw.
Two prominent figures at the draw ceremony will be Server Djeparov, the coach and two-time AFC Asian Footballer of the Year from Uzbekistan, and Qatari captain Hassan Al Haydos, who led the Maroons to a historic first victory in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Additionally joining them will be Tim Cahill of Australia and South Korean legend Park Ji-sung.
The set of draw helpers is completed by a pioneering trio of women: Indian Maymol Rocky, Sun Wen, and Japanese referee Yoshimi Yamashita.
While Yamashita was among the first women to serve as a referee at the FIFA World Cup for men in Qatar. At the FIFA Women's World Cup USA 1999, Sun earned both the Golden Ball and Golden Boot honours, but Maymol captained India's women's national team in 2017.
The AFC President, Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, expressed his confidence that the celebration of Asian football in Qatar will be authentic and create a lasting effect on the players, teams, and ardent supporters of the Continent.
All 24 competing teams' head coaches are anticipated to be present for the formal draw. John Dykes, a well-known sports anchor, will serve as the ceremony's host.
