News EventThe inaugural edition of GIMS Qatar, which is slated to take place from October 5 to 14, 2023, is being organised by Qatar Tourism in partnership with the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS). The expo, which will take up more than 10,000 square metres at the Doha expo and Convention Centre (DECC), will include 31 well-known automotive brands, including Toyota, Lexus, Porsche, Volkswagen, Lamborghini, BMW, KIA, Audi, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Vinfast, Chery, and many more. Ten or more world premieres and twenty or more regional premieres will be presented at GIMS Qatar, the newest advancements in the market.
GIMS Qatar 2023, along with the main exhibition, will organise the ultimate automotive festival of automotive excellence in Qatar, with four immersive experiences spread throughout some of the most well-known tourist hotspots in the nation. These include a "Future Design Forum" at the National Museum of Qatar, exhilarating off-road excursions at Sealine, thrilling ride-and-drive experiences at the Lusail International Circuit, an exquisite gallery of vintage cars, and a grand parade of automotive excellence down the illustrious Lusail Boulevard.
The Forum for the Future of Car Design, hosted by GIMS Qatar, will take place at the National Museum of Qatar as a closed event in close collaboration with the upcoming Qatar Auto Museum and Car Design News. It will feature a rich programme of keynote speakers, exclusive panel discussions, and a networking lunch that will promote disruptive dialogue and cross-disciplinary thinking to discuss the future of the automotive industry.
Adventurers will have the chance to explore the nearby dunes at the Sealine Adventure Hub, which is housed at the opulent Outpost Al Barari, and observe firsthand the talents and prowess of automobile manufacturers taking part in GIMS Qatar 2023 as they tackle the most difficult terrains. At the Lusail International Circuit, GIMS Qatar will hold four special Track Days in association with the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation (QMMF). Visitors will be given exclusive access and the chance to follow the F1 champions while driving on the recently refurbished track.
With captivating performances and engaging interactive activities, the Urban Playground at Lusail Boulevard will bring the passion and vigour of GIMS Qatar to life. On October 12 at 7 o'clock, a spectacular Parade of Excellence will take place, with up to 100 dream automobiles and one-of-a-kind models drifting along the 1.3 kilometres of famed Lusail Boulevard.
Visitors will be able to explore an exclusive collection of the world's best and most luxurious motorcars at the DECC's Classics Gallery. This show is a must-see event for all discriminating vintage vehicle buyers, collectors, and enthusiasts since it features some of the greatest automobiles ever produced and top concours winners. The magnificent exhibition also draws attention to the precious automobiles from Qatari and Arabian private collections.
Daily hours for GIMS Qatar at the DECC are 2 pm to 10 pm, with Saturday hours being 10 am to 10 pm. On weekdays, admission to the event will be free; on weekends, admission will cost QR 50. access into the event requires a ticket, including those for free access, which are available on the Virgin Megastore website.
